Recommended Keyboard Sub Language

The Executive Board of the Theatre Musicians Association has crafted this language with the hope that all local negotiating committees will incorporate it into their CBAs. The local keyboard subs hired by national tours are generally offered very little protection when it comes to scheduling and adequate compensation. This clause attempts to correct this.

Pamphlet B Keyboard Subbing

A synthesizer player who subs on a per show basis for a regular synthesizer player and plays fewer than 8 shows a week shall receive the lesser of 150% of the base wage for each show performed during the week, or the weekly guaranteed wage and a 25% premium for each show performed.

Shows offered to and accepted by a local keyboard player shall not be rescinded by the show within a two-week period before the first service of the local run.
